Movie Parental Guide

nudity 1/10 A man and a woman kiss, but that's pretty much it.
violence 5.5/10 A young girl tries to choke herself to death by wrapping a red string around her neck and pulling on it. She doesn't kill herself because she's interrupted, but she does cause her nose to bleed. One of the boys is found dead in a pile of barbwire. A young girl puts on a gas mask, and soon after she falls on the ground. Eve and Harry then find her dead. As the plot is set in the middle of WWII, there are many instances where plane bombs and explosions can be heard. Close to the end of the movie, Edward falls into a fire basket when it explodes. After this, Eve hits a man and runs out. A scene is repeated many times of a woman giving birth to a baby. Blood can be seen from the woman's vaginal area, but a sheet is covering her and nothing can be seen. Edward is seen going into the lake and being dragged down by Jennet. Eve jumps in to save him, but can't free him from Jennet's grasp until Harry jumps in and sacrifices himself so that they can both escape. Brief visuals of The Woman in Black and her drowned son, with pale faces, black eyes, and old wounds on their faces.
profanity 1/10 Minimal language. Occasional name-calling and religious exclamations, and maybe 1-2 uses of damn.
alcohol 1/10 A character is seen smoking.
frightening 4.5/10 Various scenes talk about The Woman in Black and how she would make those who lived in the house see what she saw, felt what she felt, and died how she died. The scenes where the children are killed/died are disturbing, but not strongly so. At least a half dozen jump scenes which come out of nowhere. Most jump scares aren't really scary. The only thing that tries to make these jumps "scary" is a loud bang or noise. Overall: 13/50 Not much goes on in the movie, but it is emotionally tense and very dark. 13+
