Barney augments his team with new blood for a personal battle: to take down Conrad Stonebanks, the Expendables co-founder and notorious arms trader who is hell bent on wiping out Barney and every single one of his associates.
Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill... or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables most personal battle yet.
|violence||Many shootouts and knife-battles, but they are all edited, so there is little to no blood because of the PG-13 rating. At times you can spot some blood when a person gets shot, but it's "blink and you'll miss it" moments, except from when one who gets killed towards the end, where there actually is a good amount of blood. There are quite a few big explosions and people probably die in these. Hand to hand battles between characters. Some MMA fighting. People gets some bloody wounds during fights. But still: much violence, little to no gore. The ending fight scene could be deemed as brutal. The unrated version would have been rated R by the MPAA but was cut for a PG-13 rating.|
|profanity||Uses of 'Christ,' 'Jesus', 'Damn', 'God', 'Goddamn', 'bastard', 'ass', 'asshole,' and 'hell.' 2 instances of the 'f' word. Name calling (e.g., idiot, pussy, stupid, moron).|
|alcohol||The Expendables sit in the bar and drink beer at times. Gunner is seen with a small bottle of unknown content, but that possibly could be liquor. Ahnold and Sly often smoke cigars.|
|frightening||One of the Expendables gets seriously injured, and ends up in a hospital. This might upset some viewers. The fighting sequences in the building towards the end of the movie are very intense.|
