| nudity | 5/10 As a man is walking past rooms in a mansion, there is brief thumping and one possible moan coming from one of the rooms behind closed doors. A man is seen stroking a woman who is lying next to him in bed, she is in a slip, but we don't know what happens as there is nothing explicit There is talk about a man having an affair (which is one of the main themes in the beginning), subsequently the woman is shown giving a kiss to a man later. Some women are seen wearing outfits which expose some of their stomach and part of their legs in some scenes. A man lies on top of a woman as they have sex; he kisses her neck, the camera pans to various angles of their bodies covered by bedsheets. The scene is underscored, we hear no sounds from them. A man kisses a woman and pushes her down onto a bed. He kisses her neck as he pulls her dress straps down and kisses down her neck and arms. The scene cuts away. |
| violence | 4/10 A man yells at his wife, pressing her against a window and we see a cut on her forehead. A man hits a woman in slow motion. It is implied that her nose is broken. We later see the woman dead after she is struck by a car; we see her body hit the windshield and she is sent flying. She has a bloody wound on her cleavage and her mouth is bloody. A fight breaks out at a party. A man punches another during this sequence. A man loses his temper and knocks over some things. This part a little scary since he is yelling very loud. A man shoots another man to death and then commits suicide. The shots are not shown but implied, creating an emotional end to the movie. |

| alcohol | Many people are shown drinking and smoking possibly to excess in some scenes. The film takes place following the end of Prohibition, so drunkenness is prevalent throughout the movie. One character is treated for being "morbid alcoholism." A woman gives a man a nerve pill which he washes down with alcohol. It is implied the mixture of the pill and the excess of alcohol following the scene induces an extreme high. |
